I want to make an appointment, but I don’t know what my hair needs! What service do I book for?
All you need to tell us is you’re booking a “first time appointment” and we figure it all out for you! After your hair has been washed, conditioned, is free of product, is wet, and in its natural state, your stylists will be able to determine: curl pattern, shrinkage, breakage, straight pieces, thermal damage, etc. Your curly hair expert will then have a consultation with you explaining the services that are best for your specific hair type. They will also hand select awesome styling products that meet the needs of your hair. It doesn’t matter if you like to flaunt your twists and coils, you’re just now transitioning from straight to naturally curly, you’d like to transform your kinks to curls, or if you like to keep your curlies straight- we got you covered!
Do you accept Walk Ins?
Yes. We do accept walk ins but there might be a short waiting time.
How do I book an appointment?
All of our appointments (first appointment and repeat appointments!) require a credit card number on file to hold your appointment. We will not charge your card unless you do not show up to your appointment or if you do not give us at least a 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule. If you do not show up to your appointment or do not give us at least a 24 hour notice to cancel or reschedule, your card will be charged a minimum of $25 (see below about cancellation). This fee will go directly to your stylist to pay for the time they blocked out for your appointment. Of course, we will always call you to remind you of your appointment in advance, and you do have 24 hours to cancel or reschedule.
How are cancellation fees calculated?
A cancellation fee for all Deva services is $50 per Deva service. For example: if you have an appointment for a Deva Cut and you do not give us a minimum of 24 hrs to cancel, minimum of 24 hrs to reschedule, or you simply do not show up for your appointment, your card will be charged $50. A cancellation fee for any and all other services is $25 per service. For example: if you have an appointment for a haircut and you do not give us a minimum 24 hrs to cancel, minimum 24 hrs to reschedule, or you simply do not show up for your appointment, your card will be charged $25. Of course, we will always call you to remind you of your appointment in advance, and you do have 24 hours to cancel or reschedule.
What if I can’t make it to my appointment?
Any appointment that needs to be rescheduled, require a minimum of 24 hour notice as a courtesy to your stylist and to other clients who may want to take your appointment time. If you do not give a minimum of 24 hour notice to reschedule, you will be charged a cancellation fee. Amount of the fee is based off of the services you booked for your appointment.
Why do you charge fees for not showing up to your appointment?
The fees are to cover the appointment lost. Without proper notice, we are unable to offer your appointment time to someone else who wanted it. Our stylist constantly have a full schedule and have a waiting list of clients wanting your appointment time. Unlike other salons, we do not double book our stylists. We book the amount of time needed for your requested services and everyone else wanting your appointment time is placed on a waiting list.
What if I don’t feel comfortable using my credit card over the phone?
No problem! Simply stop by our salon and book your appointment in person. If you prefer to not leave your credit card information, you may pay a deposit (in cash, credit card, and check) which will be applied towards your scheduled service. This deposit will be forfeited if you do not show up for your appointment or if you do not give us a minimum of 24 hours to cancel/reschedule an appointment.
Do you offer consultations?
Yes. Consultations are complimentary with a scheduled hair service. After your hair has been conditioned, is free of product, is wet, and in its natural state, your stylists will be able to determine: curl pattern, shrinkage, breakage, straight pieces, thermal damage, etc. Your curly hair expert will then have a consultation with you choosing the best styling products that meet the needs of your hair and explain the services that are best for your specific hair type. We recommend a definite consult before chemical/color or extension (weaves/crotchet/ locs) services.
Can I just get a Natural hair consultation without a hair service?
No. You cannot get a full natural hair consultation by itself. If you do need a full consultation, then we would recommend booking a First Time Appointment. Alternatively, you could walk in for a brief consult with any available hair architect during the week but not on the weekends.
Can I buy products without a consultation?
Absolutely. An appointment is not necessary to visit our store. Guests are welcomed to visit our store any time during normal business hours.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for my hair appointment?
Yes! Please remove any twists, coils, braids and weaves prior to your appointment. Ensure your hair is detangled.
What is the difference between a Deva Cut and the Deva 3 Step
A Deva cut is not a style, it is a technique. It is a dry cut for curly girls that love to wear their hair in its natural state.
A Deva Cut service includes the cut and the deva 3 step styling technique which is includes a cleanse, conditioning and curl definition.
The Deva 3 step does not include the cut. It is the process of cleansing, conditioning and defining the curls.
Do I need to do anything to my hair to prepare for a Deva cut?
Yes! If you have an appointment for a Devacut, we need you to come in “Deva ready.” Your stylist will need to see your curls:
- detangled,
- defined,
- and falling naturally.
The Devacut is best on fresh, dry curls so here’s the deal: the morning of your appointment we need you to wash, detangle, and style your hair with product so that your curls are defined when you come in for your appointment. If you have kinkier curls (natural hair), we need you to come in with a “wash n’ go” (finger-style) so that your stylist can accurately assess your shrinkage.
Do not pull your curls up in a ponytail, braid, bun, clips, or wear a hat when you come in for your appointment. Your stylist needs to see your curls detangled, defined and calling naturally.
